Dukes had similar comments about time saved thanks to the sealed tub design and central lubrication system of the compactor. "When we run our other compactor in the C&D application, it takes about four hours every two weeks to pull the belly pans down and clean the leaves and trash out of there," said Dukes. "With the tub on our BOMAG machines, we don't have that problem. And it greases itself, so we aren't devoting man hours to that job either."

Compacting landfill waste is demanding enough under normal conditions. But if a heavy rain shower passes over the site, the task can be nearly impossible without the right equipment. Thus far, the BC772RB hasn't hit any such roadblocks at Bees Ferry. "When we get real wet conditions, the BOMAG will go places the other machines can't. And that just comes back to the machine being built specifically for this job. These machines have been great assets for us."
