Father's Day saved

Beitz chose well with its BOMAG planers. In spite of the surface layer being only a few years old and very hard, an average milling speed of 82 ft/min was achieved over the 4.6-mile stretch during the first stage of construction work. This gave a perfect, clean planed surface that not only allowed for quick, precise repaving of the new surface, but saved time and money in respect to sweeping the road afterwards. During all construction stages, the average fuel consumption was an economical 15-17 gallons per hour. However, the really impressive thing about the BOMAG planers was their reliability.  

"We had no unforeseeable interruptions at all throughout the entire job," praised site foreman Christian Hoffmann. A particularly positive factor in this was the enhanced water spraying system for the planer cutter which reduced wear and improved its rotating function. This meant the cutters could be used for much longer. "We have had past experience where cutters only lasted for two hours," said Hoffmann. The large volume feed pump for the water tank also ensured that standstills to fill the tanks were reduced to a minimum.  

Planer driver Frank Walz was also impressed how little time was lost during work. "The trucks were swapped over quickly to take material away. The BOMAG pause function was really helpful here. When I pressed the button, the planer settings were saved so I could carry straight on again after the truck had been swapped around."  

The BOMAG planers produced precision planing and high daily outputs thanks to their reliability. The result: all three stages were completed after just three days, far faster than planned. Everyone could relax on Wednesday evening with a job well done, looking forward to Father's Day. Beitz will definitely be using BOMAG planers on-site again in the future.
