BOMAG UNVEILS NEW BMP ARTICULATED COMPACTOR
New Multi-Purpose compactor offers smart features and increased performance

LAS VEGAS – The BOMAG BMP 8500 articulated compactor has become an extremely successful addition to BOMAG’s line since its introduction in 2010. After a demonstration tour through 49 states, and many successful jobsite demonstrations, demand for the BMP 8500 is higher than ever. It will be on display at The Rental Show in Las Vegas, Feb. 28 – March 2, 2011.

Customers appreciate the bolt-on drum extensions, which give the BMP 8500 a dual working width: 24 and 33.5 inches. It also features the BOMAG Operator Safety System (BOSS), which increases worker safety by automatically stopping machine travel if the operator is in the safety zone. Powered by a 19.4 horsepower Kubota diesel engine, the BMP 8500 delivers high compaction output due to its dual exciters and directed centrifugal force. The machine offers two selectable amplitudes, resulting in two centrifugal force output options – 8,000 and 16,000 pounds – giving the compactor the versatility to work in a variety of jobs and applications.

Helping customers reduce fuel costs, the BMP 8500 comes standard with BOMAG’s ECOMODE system, which automatically idles the engine during in-activity. The BMP 8500 also offers BOMAG’s Intelligent Vibration Control (IVC), which helps achieve consistent compaction results. The hydrostatic drive system offers two travel speed ranges, and high gradeability.

The BMP 8500 is also easy to maintain. The integrated diagnostic system displays fault codes, taking the guesswork out of troubleshooting. Both of the hoods and the electrical compartment fully open to 90 degrees, providing efficient access to the engine and internal systems.
